How to Create an AI Playlist


Overview

UMix now includes an AI Playlist feature that builds a custom playlist based on your business profile. The AI draws from our licensed music library and selects tracks that fit your business environment.

Once created, your AI playlist works exactly like any other UMix playlist — you can schedule it, assign it to zones, and manage it from your dashboard.


AI playlist generation is a new and evolving capability. Results will improve over time as the technology matures. If a playlist doesn’t feel quite right, try adjusting your criteria.



Before You Start

You will need:

  • A UMix account with dashboard access

  • Either your company’s website URL, or a basic sense of your customer demographics



Step 1 — Navigate to AI Playlists

Log in to your UMix dashboard and locate the AI Playlists section in your navigation menu.



Step 2 — Create a New AI Playlist

Click the + button to open the Create AI Playlist dialog. Enter a name for your playlist and select the number of tracks you want (up to 500). However, we recommend starting small - up to 200. Each 100 songs provides about 6 2/3 hours of music before songs repeat.



Step 3 — Choose Your Method

You have two options for how the AI builds your playlist:


Option A — URL

Select URL and enter your company’s web address. UMix AI will scan your site, analyze your business, and use that profile to select music that fits your brand.


Option B — Criteria

Select Criteria and fill in the following fields:

  1. Target Age Range — the approximate age range of your customers
  2. Percent Female — the estimated gender split of your customer base
  3. Business Environment — the type of setting (retail, restaurant, hospitality, etc.)

UMix AI will use these inputs to build a playlist matched to your environment.



Step 4 — Save and Wait

Click Save. Playlist generation may take a few minutes. You will find the completed playlist in your AI Playlists list once it is ready. We'll send you an email once processing is complete.



Step 5 — Schedule It

Once the playlist appears ready in your list, schedule it the same way you would any other UMix playlist. From this point forward it behaves identically to any other playlist.
