Player Settings

Player settings control how your UMix players download songs and play your music. You can set them for your whole account and adjust them for any single location.

How Settings Work

  • Account settings. Open Settings from the menu under your initials at the top right. Save Changes applies a tab's settings to locations you add from then on. Apply to All Existing Locations (Internet tab) and Apply Failover Playlist to All Locations (Audio tab) also apply them to the locations you already have.
  • One location. On your Locations page, click the gear icon in the Action column. Changes there apply to that location only.
  • Digital Signage, Reports and Do Not Play Clean Songs are set for your whole account only.

Internet

  • Buffer Size (MB): how much upcoming Major Label music the player keeps ready. The default is 100, about three hours of songs. See Understanding UMix Failover.
  • Overnight Only MP3 Downloads: downloads Major Label songs only during a window you choose, usually overnight, for locations with limited internet bandwidth. See Preserve Your Daytime Internet Bandwidth Using Overnight Only Downloads. When checked:
    • What Time? The starting time of your download window.
    • How Long (hrs)? The number of hours in your download window.
    • Buffer Size (MB): the buffer for overnight downloads. Set it to about 40 times the number of hours of music play: for example, 40 x 12 hours = 480.

Audio

  • Failover Playlist: the backup playlist your players play when they can't reach our servers. See Understanding UMix Failover.
  • Zone A and Zone B, Music and Messages: the player's volume for each zone's music and messages. The player has its own separate volume control, and so does your amplifier.

Digital Signage

  • Default Presentation: plays during any blank periods on your signage schedule. Without one, only a logo shows during blank periods.

Reports

  • Send Connections Reports to Subscriber Admin: sends a Player Connections report to your account's Subscriber Admin every Monday. To add recipients, put a comma between email addresses.
  • Send New Songs Reports to Subscriber Admin: sends a New Songs report on the first of each month. Add recipients the same way.

Other

  • Disk Space Allowed: how much disk space the UMix app may use on the player.
  • Do Not Play Clean Songs (whole account): when checked, clean versions of songs are not played. See Reduce Complaints About Explicit Lyrics.
